SU-76
« on: October 25, 2011, 03:42:35 PM »
Now, most people want Soviet SPG's and tanks. I WANT THIS!

                SU-76M (Main Production variant)
Gun: 76mm ZIS-3SH

Armor:     Front: 35 mm (1.4 in)
              Side: 16 mm (0.63 in)

Not a completely bad choice.  However, be sure you understand that the AP ability of the 76mm main gun is LESS than the US M4 Sherman's 75mm main gun.  It is the same gun as the T34/76, which means is it the bottom of the barrel in terms of tank AP performance in AH.  With that in mind, the HVAP will make up for that at distances INSIDE 1200 yards or so, once outside of that the AP ability of reduced in a major way.  The rate of fire probably is faster that the T34/76, but still.

If HTC is going to add a SPG, or an "assault gun", then perhaps may I suggest the German StuG III (or StuG IV) or the Soviet Su-100.  The StuG IV chassis is already in game and the Su-100 chassis is already in game.  The StuG III would have to be built from the ground up.

Hmmmm.... M4 Sherman 75mm vs the T34/76 at 0, 1000, and 2000 yards?  AP vs AP???

I'm not able to start the game up as I'm out of town and not near my own PC to check out the hanger stats, but my memory is telling me that the US 75mm has an edge ove the T34/76 in AP vs AP.  Is someone able and willing to post the actual AH stats please???  :D

Either way, they are close enough to fight for the bottom of the barrel in AH armor penetration ability for tanks.  Having HTC put a lot of time nad effort in to making the SU-76 would be fruitless with all the other possibilities still out there.

SU-85 would be the best option for AH.

MK-84, AP vs AP, the M3 75mm and the Zis have identicle penetration at 0yds.

BUT the M3 75mm gun overtakes the Zis quite quickly, being noticably superior at just 1000yds, and markedly superior at 2000yds.
You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.
