New laptop bad video card
« on: November 05, 2006, 12:27:11 PM »
I have a laptop with a Intell 946GM Express Chipset as the video card. The screen is a wide screen which makes it worse. My probelm is I cannot figure out the right video and grafic setting for the game. When im on a ship there seems to be a cloud in the sky melting if it were the wake from the ship. When I gun a ship its impossible there a object infront of the whole gun it looks like a cloud. When I fly everything kinda flickers on the ground and in the sky I see thoses wierd shapes. Any ideas on how to fix this I have tried everything I can think of?

AH refused to play nice on my P-M laptop until I turned off all the CPU power saving options in the BIOS. I have a 128M 6600go video chipset tho.. not sure about the 946GM

Speaking of notebooks that play AH, PC Club is selling my notebook at a clearence price now, less than $1k.. MxM video is upgradable so is the P-M CPU.

I dont think you can fix the Intel graphics by tweaking the setup.  Sometimes the right driver will help, but the Intel stuff is really inadequate to play 3D games.  Regardless of what they say.  It just doesnt have the hardware to handle real 3D gaming graphics.  If you absolutely must use your laptop, I'd check on having an aftermarket graphics card installed.
