A/C Performance Comparisons
« on: October 07, 2006, 03:40:55 AM »
I've found some info (including the Speed & Climb charts in the Hangar) on performance for the AH fighter/attack aircraft, but not nearly enough or reliably updated.  I would prefer statistical data tables rather than having to decipher and transpose data from charts, but I'll take whatever.  Also, this is info should be AH specific and not historical unless AH is actually modelled that way.
I want to compare such things as Corner Velocity, Turn Rates & Radii, Acceleration rates, roll rates, dive rates, compression, climb rates, etc.  Pretty much any performance parameters that can be equally compaired aircraft to aircraft.
Does anyone know where I can easily find this info?

Sloehand: The charts in the hangar can not be out of date, they are generated on the fly from the current AH model.

I understand that HiTech, thanx.  My statement was meant to say that

(a) I knew of your Speed and Climb charts and had them as some of my info

(b) but that amonst all my info, 'some' of it was not reliably up-to-date, or was incomplete, or otherwise only partially useful.

As for your charts, in the game they are helpful but difficult and time consuming for A/C to A/C comparison between several planes on the fly.

For my current project and purposes they are very difficult to determin precise numbers at finite points on the chart as they are so small.  Not complaining, just a fact of the limited space you had to work with.

Is there a modelling database for your Speed and Climb charts, and any other of the other performance info I wanted?  My purpose is to build a performance comparison quick reference guide that can be printed out and used when choosing the A/C in the hangar and to learn the performance match up between planes.

You can find most of this info, taken from actual flight testing, right here.

Corner velocity can be determined by testing the planes. I have done some dive tests, but only about 20% of the plane set. Likewise for roll rates. Note that roll rates are hard to test accurately and some planes suffer a great deal from adverse yaw when rolling.

You can find some roll rates for actual WWII fighters in NACA report 868, available in .pdf format click here to see the report, or right click on the link and select Save Target As to download it to your machine.

Here is a project I started back at the first of the year. I never got enough support to really finish it, but it may help.

Also, I don't know how accurate it is any more because I haven't played in a while.

Send me a message if you'd like to revitalize the project, and I may mess with it again if I have time and anyone is interested.

OK... The site has been updated with actual test data. (got tired of flying and dying and decided to do some training and testing  :) )
