hes got a serious point here, not maybe about the intentional gaming the game stuff, which does happen, but about bomber drones warping.

its really the most ugly thing to look at and a terrible entry in the 'accepted' AH2 bugs and always has been.

move violent enough to warp drones, lose them. why not.

1st, I tried to clarify what I ment. Lets call it gaming the game instead of "cheating" per se. However what i'm seeing is repetative and more and more common. Warps that are the result of the buff formation manuevering...instead of buffs "blowing up" as they get to far away there appears to be a limit where buffs "warp" to rejoin formation. This doesnt happen all the time so it's some type of "sweet spot". Two things are also becoming more prevelent...."drones" actually getting in front of the lead plane and planes shifting in formation as they reform. I'm guessing both somehow involve the pilot jumping from 1 plane to another during this manuevering.

This isnt a whine about gunnery modeling etc, its a complaint about how the game code is being used to defeat its purpose. Yes it occurs in gun range....normally its the two drones warping to keep up with the lead. Lots of guys have lost planes when they have collided with a buff that warps right in fromt of them or "beams aboard" 200 dead in front. Or been shot by warping drones they cant even line up on. What I saw earlier this evening was a 2 buff formation (I got 1) both warping and "changing lead" and orientation with 1st one then the other buff leading and the drone on 1 wing then the other and in trail. I admit to being a total novice with regard to the finer points of buff commands. I do know you can switch from 1 plane to another for gunnery...so I assume you can swap out pilot position as well....so i'm assuming that the buff pilot is switching planes during manuevering causing the drone to warp to him as/when the code indicates....obviously I'm speculating that this is the root action that created what I'm seeing more and more of. So now you have warping buffs with drones moving and often with no icon that are shooting at you as they beam thru space.

To me this goes beyond all the little garbage typical to gaming the game and poses a larger question of playability. I for example have never seen 999000 EVER have a single warp yet he's largely regarded {with good reason} as one of the most deadly buff drivers in the game. I had a B26 driver take the wing off my hog with 1 ping at 1.5 out as I was going away. Piss me off sure, do I think thats fair and proper ballsitics modeling....hell no. Am I calling the guy a "cheater" no.....that along with GV modeling flight model etc are all just part of the game...this is not as far as I'm concerned. GV's dont warp do to code, neither do fighters.

My comment is simply that formation integrity was a fundemental aspect of flying buffs. Reading any book on the subject (Wings of Morning as an example) clearly highlights the importance and high training casualty level that was accepted to hone that skill to maintain the tight formations that the AH gunnery modeling is trying to simulate. I feel that if a buff driver has to manuever to the degree that a plane has to warp to catch up it should simply blow up instead.

and this should be sent to hitech not plasterd on the forum. he doesnt like public speaking of cheats, and rightly so

Cheat is probably the wrong word since most people assume it implies a hack of some kind. To me if you exploit game code to an extreme thats a cheat. Most of the examples are pretty minor (hiding tank in a shore battery or bomb crater, shooting thru buildings) and as with the two I just mentioned relagated to less evolved portions of the game. You'd call them "bug exploitation". I have no clue and zero comment on the general state of "warpyness" and who might be yanking what....this is a common occurance brought on by game code that obviously has a design concept (probably to minimize drone loss by giving the pilot some correction margin).

My hope is they review how it works and what happens under varying conditions.

Very simple, do not allow one player to fly three planes at once!  Should have been done away with a long time ago!

Or re-code the transition from drone to lead.  Flying low 6 on a set of buffs, pull up at d600so the nose of the lead is in my crosshairs. Pull the trigger, lead bomber explodes at d200. Continue through, get the you have collided message. Look back over my left shoulder and see a drone in the lead. Try to turn for a second attack but spiral out of control, look right, DOH!! no wing.

Ya know,
I have really noticed this alot more. I just break and rtb leaving the trog alone. If he is in a faster aircraft I auger before he gets a shot so he may get the kill, but no points.
Maybe it's time for the CT again.......

Maybe when HT has the AI coad sorted for CT he can apply it to drones such that they behave "differently".

I've said it to squaddies for over 2 years now.   But it isn't the "c" word.   It's called laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaggggggggggg-uh.

Then again, I enjoy folks that turn 8g's in buffs why?  Those two trailing drones are easy pickin's.   Not to mention even IF there was a gunner, he isn't touching you.   The defensive armament of the buffs is easier to manage on top of it.   The buffs are giving the advantage to the ATTACKER when turning tight in buffs.
