Fox news has released an article on a new airplane design that during takeoff and landing is believed to be as quiet as two people having a conversation.

A US - British team of researchers from academia and the aerospace industry believes the passenger aircraft will not be fuel efficient, yet virtually silent.

Edward Greitzer, a professor of aeronautics says that this new airplane design will aid in meeting the increasing passenger demand, yet even if he's right, don't expect to see or hear this plane anytime soon. The project is aimed at establishing research knowledge that could lead to development of an aircraft by 2030.

I know, I know!!!! First they get this really big rubber band. Then they hook the rubber band to the airplane and pull it backwards stretching the rubber band out. Then they start the engines and hold them at idle. After the rubber band is released the plane is thrown into the air silently........

make passengers sit on exercise bikes connected to a driveshaft connected to a prop, plane is silent, fuel efficient AND passengers will be cured from DVT. Everyone's a winnar.

Propellor tips approaching transonic speeds and beyond are very loud. It's the rubber band I tell ya!!!

That depends on temperature, air density altitude, weight of the aircraft and wind direction as well as velocity of the wind. Don't you know nuthin aereonautical?!?!?!?!

I know enough to get me off the ground and to land. I know the basics on lift, drag, torque, gyro drift, and all that good stuff. Although I will start work on my Private Pilot's license next year.
