I think that was him with the runaway engine. :)
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

Was it me, or was that a P-40 making a trap 30 seconds into the clip?

Think it might be a Fairey Firefly..although the air filter looks too big.

I'd almost believe it, but those planes appeared to be intact and in one piece before attempting the landing.

Yeah thats a Firefly F.Mk.I probably of 1772nd RN Squadron, which operated off the Indefatigable.

Qutoe from the "Complete Book of WWII Aircraft", page 96-

"The first Fireflies became operative on October 1, 1943 on board the aircraft carrier Indefatigable, although their debut in combat took place in July of the following year in Norway, during operations against the German battleship Tirpitz. However, the main theater of action was the Pacific where, from January 1945 until the Japanese surrender, the Fireflies were used with remarkable success, in all major air-sea operations."

Edited- Had a profile of a 1772 Sqaudron Firefly, but the link was busted. :(

I saw no problem with those landings?  Didn't you see that pilot walking away like nothing happened?

I'm clearly missing something in these films :)

Did you notice the Spit in first clip had a few degrees of flaps extended. So they had adjustable flaps, not just in or out?
