Somethins Screwed up.
« on: November 13, 2006, 11:47:50 PM »
After I finally got the game to play, I asked my brother if I could borrow his Logitech Wingman, it worked, but not well. I tried calibrating it but it didnt help. When I was calibrating the joy stick, it would give force feedback when you move the stick. I couldnt take of with the joysick cause it wouldnt let me set my rudders (dont get mad at me if I cant spell) to buttuns on the joystick. About 2 hours later while trying to calibrate again because the game was telling me I was pressing to many keys or something of that sort and then it wouldnt give any feedback. I tried to keep playing anyways and I have no control over my plane. If anyone can help me or give any advice that would be great.

If you switched from the mouse to a joystick, then you need to go to the "Map Controllers" panel (Options->Controls->Map Controllers) and press the "Default Map" button.  This will transfer primary control from the mouse tothe joystick.  This also holds true if you change joysticks.

Once you have the joystick set as primary, then you just need to scroll though the "Controller Input" list and check to see what is not mapped.  The commands mapped to input of the joystick are listed to the right of each input.  If there is nothing there, then you simply need to map a command to the input.

You do this by double-clicking on the input you want to map.  A command list appears.  Select the command from the list you want associated with the input and press "OK".

All this assumes you have successfully calibrated the stick in Windows first.  The input list names can be confusing as they are provided by the joystick itself.  We do not make them up.  For example, your throttle could be shown as a Z-Axis, Z-Rotation, Slider, or actually say Throttle depending on the joystick.

To tell which is which, simply move the input on the joystick itself and watch the numbers next to the input in the list to see which input you are moving.

The force feedback should not start working until you are actually in a plane and flying.

Hope that helps.
