Reaching out beyond the grave
« on: November 16, 2006, 03:31:07 AM »
I've been having strange experiences where the plane that has just vapourized infront of me gets awarded the 'XXX shot you' down when I ditch/land in enemy territory some moments later.

Eg - Found a 110 strafing a friendly factory so shot it in the face and it exploded but not before giving me radiator damage. I landed at the factory about 30 seconds later, which technically was in enemy territory and got the system message saying the guy who just blew up shot me down and I'd been captured.

I always thought the person who pinged you had to still be in the air to get awarded the kill if you ditched it  in enemy airspace?

I have wondered that myself.

I have died, been back in the tower, launched again, and THEN got the kill on an NME that I had shot to pieces.

Gotten kills in the tower too.

Is it connection related?

I'm used to the lag kills, but I've been getting them 15 to 45 seconds later, my ping is on average 100 to 120 which if it is lag, would make theirs about 30,000.

Edit: Here's the film, I'm not suggesting anything untoward is going on, just that at 2.09 minutes into the film he meets his maker, I land at 2.36 so 27 seconds later, and have been shot down?

Short, ugly jousting match with unforseen consequences

I have noticed that if you damage a plane but do not kill it, land and up in the same aircraft again and then the prior plane goes down you get credited for the kill. Could be you are experiencing the opposite.
