I just put a short Flash intro in front of my fire department's photo archive site.  Comments/suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

i like it.

it's might be tad long though, especially without any sound.  i  liked the siren at the end.

i thought that an alternative might be to have radio or 9-11 calls slowly fading in at the beginning of the intro and play throughout... leading into the siren...  just an idea.

felt like it needs just a bit of something more in the way of audio...

all in all...good work.

Looks great. a better yet suggestion on the sound though I think

As you take it through its history start of with the old fasioned fire bell "ding ding ding" as you progress through time modernize the sounds.
To coincide with the pictures
then the old hand crank siren. Then maybe radio traffic. and end up with the modern siren and horn sound.

I love it. Firemen are hero's as far as I'm concerned, I mean think about it we all run out of a burning building. They run INTO the burning building.

Thanks for the input, everyone.  I like the idea or radio traffic too, and I used it on the rescue squad site that I created a year or so ago.

I actually found a great bagpipe mp3 that seemed to fit well with the visuals, but it tripled the size of the download and pushed it over a meg.  I thought that might be a bit much.

in instances where you really need to have sound but you dont want to make it a million lb. gorilla, you can go into your export settings and lower the quality of the sound.  if you keep it down low enough (the actual sound...you can adjust that as well) you can often get away with it.

even better is to snip it up and put the repetitive parts into a little loop that plays over and over.
