Our squad night
« on: November 20, 2006, 11:08:45 AM »
Lastnight , Sunday, we came in the game, many were already in, throughout different arenas, flying for assorted counties, to hold our weekly squadnight.

We found it difficult to find an arena where either we could fly in decent planes, or fly with decent numbers. For squadnight we like to do a little bit of fighter sweep, and a little bit of base capture.

The way the ack is now, it takes alot of people just to kill the acks at a town, to say nothing about the base. To actually kill a town, and suppress a base, you need a lot of people involved. To get do that, usually means having a team outnumber the enemy. By doing that, you raise the ENY to a level that quite often puts you in early war planes. An attack by p40s and Bostons, can easily be repulsed by a few LA7s.

If we change sides to lower the ENY, we end up with not having enough people to actually bomb the town down and killing enough ack to suppress the field to allow capture. The old damned if you do, damned if you dont routine. After going to 3 different arenas, trying to find a good battle, one that allowed decent planes, with some hope of a capture, but making it a fight, without a complete milkrun, we ended up in the EW. But not in planes. In tanks. After 2 hours of trying to conduct air missions, we gave up, and all hopped in tanks.

It seems that people tend to claim arenas..one team groups up in Orange, one in Blue, one in purple etc. We arent seeing an even spread across all the arenas. What I saw lastnight was this:

Sometime during the day, a team grabbed alot of bases. By the time we came on, we had few bases. By coming into the game to try to gain back the bases, we affected the ENY, reducing effectiveness, and making it next to worthless in gaining bases back.

Is there a way that the number of a teams owned bases, can be figured into the ENY formula?

Rooks own 50 bases, and at the time have 20 people on.
Knights own 5 bases and have 40 people on.
Bish own 25 bases and have 20 people on.

As it is right now, even though the knights have the least amount of bases, at the moment they have the most people, forcing them in poor planes, making any chance of gaining back ground much more difficult.

Could the fact that the knight having a much lower base ownership, but have greater numbers of players,  have that figured into the eny setting? Maybe ENY could kick in if a team has both greater number of bases AND greater number of players, but wouldnt kick in if they dont have both?

I've always thought that total base number should be equated somewhere within the ENY, but I am too lazy to come up with calculations for that.
