HTC Sounds Folder

What should one see in it if its correct?  Multiple folders corresponding to the planeset and game sounds with wav files?  Or no multiple folders and wave files only and not as numerous as in days of old?

In my sounds folder I see multiple folders corresponding to the current plane set with a few wav files floating in the general file (those are wave files that correspond to pretty much all the planes and will play unless the vehicle you are in has its own special sound for that event...)

Hope that makes sense to you because I don't know what the h^*$ I just said...lol

Ditto in mine Lord Hap.  Multiple folders with common wavs shared by all aircraft floating in there.

My sounds folder is empty and I have sounds in the game.  I reloaded game, it is still empty.

I'd like to install and enjoy a custom sound pack like Mitsu's or Waffle's.

Suggestions please.

If you don't have a sound pack yet, then your sounds folder should be empty. HT changed the sound file system a while ago, so that all default sounds are one file.

If you want to install a sound pack, just download one, unzip it, and put the files into your sounds folder. They will override the default sounds. With sound packs, you should have the 'multiple folders and wavs floating around' that you described.

EDIT: Also, none of the sound packs have been updated for the new planes yet. So, if you want custom sounds for, say, the Spit16, then you have to copy one of the other Spit folders (I don't know which is closest to the 16, so I just used the 9) and rename it to "Spit16". The same applies for any other planes that don't have custom sounds, like the new Corsair (in fact, I think that's the only other one besides the spit16).

And, believe it or not, I'm about to release new sounds, even for the added planes. Real Merlins and Pratt & Whitneys, people, so be on the lookout.

You need WinRAR for mine (it's a free download, just google it). As for the installation, it's just the same as Mitsu's and Waffle's.

Oddly enough, I have Idle, Low, and Medium RPM sounds for all of the planes that I'm working on, but AH's sound system just isn't beefy enough to support them. I also have different external sounds for every single sound that I use.

If only the team could make an improvement to the sound system, I could make one hell of a powerful (albeit massive) sound pack.
