IMO, the conclusion is: Democrats are more popular among those areas of higher crime rate.

Why?

Maybe because the perception is that the Republican party doesn't address issues such as poverty, education, and jobs in a meaningful way for people living in lower socioeconomic locals...

just a thought.

LOL, more likely they want gun control to disarm their victims.

Those cities mentioned as a rule have a large black population.  Not being overly PC, I will state I think they want democrats in power because they know democrats are much more likely to feed their sense of entitlement with expanding welfare programs.  They realize Republicans are more likely to put limits on welfare, and at some point require them to get off thier butts and actually work for a living, so they prefer democrats who will pay them to stay home and loaf.

But if you look at those cities, their local elected leaders and representitives have been predominently democrat for decades...so are you saying they haven't done their jobs? Congress and the Senate were predominently controlled by democrats for nearly 40 years...

Oh now, don't try and confuse him with reality and facts, it ruins perfectly good moonbat theory.

I suppose that's one take Ripsnort...  the other is that the Dems have been addressing those issues - or at least have been trying too (And so has the GOP in its own way).  You're right when you point out that the Dems have controlled the house for 40 out of the last 52 years... so what have they done in that time?  Well there's Medicare, Medicaid, AFDC (now TANF) WIC, Headstart, and the list goes on...  Are these programs perfect ? No, but they do help millions of people every day.

Now, it the 12 years the GOP ran the show, two pieces of legislation really only come to mind... TANF (mentioned above) and Medicare Part-D... but that's pretty much it.  While TANF was a essentially a home run (i deal with it every day in my job, so believe me i know it's flaws and they are huge too, and center mostly around eligibility) but as a whole it has been the boost that AFDC has needed, and the Jury is still out on Part-D.  They didn't address minimum wage and health care costs are becoming ridiculous...

Could/Should the Dems have done a better job on their watch?  You're damn right!  Could/Should the Republicans have done a better job too? Yep.
