I can tell ya war birds suck they want your card number before you even get the free trail to there game.

IL2 is ok but you can only do a LAN fight and there is never any LAN games going.

Lock ON is to Computer hungry It takes too much to run the game.

WB doesn't suck, it's damn good. AW was good, but wb was better. Aces High is the best to date. All of them could cause you to get caught up in the moment, trick your body into an adrenal reaction and forget that you're not a soldier in the 1940s sky. We'll call it factor X. I've bought every IL2 game thus far and they don't deliver on that level. From what I've seen the IL2 series atracts the minutia and trivia fixated nerds, people who emulate ss units etc. But as you may have noticed the real-deal sheep sheering sons of *****es spend their time culling and tutoring in the skies of AH.

This post of mine is going to draw a lot of heat because IL2 fanbois are the type who spend a lot of time lurking, answering "name this" posts and whining on the intardnet. Whereas AH,WB,AW types utilize the intardnet largely for porn, hooking up with lonely women and playing AH.

The most fun I had was playing IL2 online campaigns without icons, and no GPS map. Too bad IL2 is not as accurate as AH2 on the plane performance aspect.:noid

Yeah, AH really needs an arena setting that removes the gps maps. Navigation is a HUGE part of aviation as I understand it.

:D

Havent crashed a PC since the days of win98SE. Both xp and win2k are impossible to crash unless you tryto :p

On to the point... i havent found any ww2 fightsims that can own AH. They can be better in sertain areas, but the overall experince in any other game is not even close.

Kinda depends on what you consider to be the main objective of the game is and what aspects of RL you really want to replicate.  Flying in bad weather and icing on your wings is a huge part of aviation but it's not replicated in AH.  Neither is being grounded because of an unauthorized tower fly-by.  Requiring precision navigation would probably not be a big plus since most people want to find a fight, not navigate from point A to point B.

In Aces High probably, in IL2 it was necessary to the mission. You had to bomb the right airport, or find a tank colum next to the right city, to avoid friendly fire.

The fun came from the way the ground features are modeled compared to AH. There are many more roads/bridges/rivers/towns in IL2 than in AH. It's easier to get lost. Finding your way home after a furball with the LW on a snowded in map was always quite entertaining.

No GPS maps in AH2 would not make much a difference as the ground landmarks are too few.

Aces of the Pacific is absolutely the best fight sim ever made!  Ok, the original Red Baron was pretty cool too - if you're into biplanes.

The IL2 series are good for eye-candy, but the AH flight model seems better to me.  I'm looking forward to seeing the BOB sim that they're supposed to have out soon.  IL2 is also good for those times when Skuzzy trips over the plug and AH is down for awhile.
