GV sighting distance
« on: November 21, 2006, 04:26:58 PM »
Since coming back to AH I've noticed you can't see a GV util it's too late.  Is there any better graphics setting to use that lets the GVs pop up a little sooner?  Even on the wide open airfield I don't see the GVs until about D1.5 or 1.0 by then if you're on a dive run to get the GV's its too late to adjust.  So far I've been doing a flyby, sight the the vehicle, hope it doesn't move and then come back around to pickle the bomb.

Am I missing something with my graphics settings or is this the way it is.  You use to be able to see a dot, but now you don't get the dot until you see the tag.  At least that's what I've been experiencing.

This tends to happen when GVs are "hiding" amongst the trees and foliage.  However, out in the open, you should be able to see them from a bit more futher out.  Try setting full visual range using Shift + 1 (the settings, by default, go from Shift +1 to Shift + 3).
Hopefully this helps.

Shift -F1 = Full range visibility

Shift F2 = Medium range

Shift F3 = Short range

Play with those settings. Hopefully you were set to medium or short and this will fix you right up.

icon range is 1.5k for gvs on, although u should see their dot from much further. like peru stated, if they r hiding in trees it will be much closer. just the way the game is.

Make sure ground detail is set at 3 miles.  You'll see the dots unless they're hiding but even then you'll find them.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

P.S.  If I can only remember where the VH is now on the airfields I can take it out before it becomes a problem!

Right click your clipboard (map) and select clipboard maps - you get maps for every field type/strat target.

(If you put a .bmp file into your c:}\Programs\HTC\Aces High II\maps folder you can view it from in game as well)

Also, on the Trainer Corps Homepage you can find links clipboard maps in a printable version.

PS: They are not updated for the new autoack layout yet, though.

When in Ground Vehicles use Shift F4, it will give you Ground Vision
