One quick question
« on: November 21, 2006, 10:31:18 AM »
Last spring I played the free 2 week trial of Aces High.

I loved it, and almost bought a subscription. The reason I didn't, was because I was pretty busy and would only be able to play for a few hours every week, and to me, that didn't justify spending $15.

Now, I've got a lot more free time on my hands, and yesterday I signed back on to get a subscription. This time, I was stopped by the fact that there are now 4 different arenas, and to me, that's a big change from having just one huge arena.

The thing that appealed to me most about Aces High, was the huge amount of people you could find in the main arena.

So, my question is this. Did splitting the main arena up into four different arenas positively or negativel affect the game? And will you still find 500 people online in one arena?

Thanks.

Arenas are maxing out about 300to 350.  Time will tell on positive or negative.  The negs are arena inbalance at moment i.e 100 bish 60 rooks 55 knights then the next arena may well be 100 rooks 55 bish and so on.  Sometimes the arenas are balanced.  Acks got a little nasty but no more blasted puffy acks at fields.

Recommend you come aboard and give it a go

Your mielage will vary. Though you'll see more total people online, you won't see 500 on the same server. Though even with 250 on a server there is plenty of fighting going on.

As said earlier you may find the arenas occasionally unbalanced, but that has always happened. In the end the impact of the numbers isn't always felt. As you don't get all of these people in the same area anyway.

Once again though log in and find out. All you're going to hear here are a bunch of different opinions in both directions. Go find out for yourself.

The majority of players support the split arenas...not all. Then again, you'll never get 100% consensus on anything. It should also be noted that a lot of those players who were against the arena split at first, now are in favor.

"This time, I was stopped by the fact that there are now 4 different arenas"

???

Well unless you did actually re-subscribed or got another 2 week free trial for yourself how do you know that there aren't 500 in each arena?

Because I can see a list of the arenas without subscribing, and when I checked it, the most populated arena only had 113 players in it (this mid-late war, I think).

I didn't think that you could click on "Online Arenas" without being a subscriber.

I think I smell stinky bait in the water.

With out subscribing you can see the list, arenas can be configured to not even require a subscription. Have been debating to make the lobby free or not.

Its $15 for a month. Unless the wolves are at the door and the cupboard's bare, give it a shot. If you don't like it then cancel. I can float you a loan for the first month though you probably won't like the interest rate. The collections guys tend to be a little hardnosed too.:D

Ive always looked at it like ths...how much does it cost to rent 3 new release movies?....about $15.  How much entertainment time is that?  Say average of 100 min per movie...thats 5 hours.

Or, the same $15 could get you how many hours entertainment in AH?
