Warpage at d200
« on: November 22, 2006, 03:43:19 PM »
I thought it was the other guys (naturally) but it happens so consistently I think it must be me.

Cons track just fine, nice and smooth, at anything down to d400. When I get to d200, I get a gigantic back-and-forth warp: con backs up, then zooms away again. Sometimes it does this twice.

Last time it happened, the warp took my right through the con - collision, unhappiness, etc.

Anyone have any ideas? I run a Dell Latitude D610 (yeah, yeah) over ADSL. Ping's generally around 220 from here in Australia.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

Its being caused by your 220mSec pings.   In the US,where most players are from, we probably average 60-120mSec pings.  The extra 100mSec you are seeing is causing the warpage when you get inside D400.

You may want to try a differant Internet supplier and see if you can get the ping times closer to 120mSec, but this may be impossible since "shrimp on the barbi" land is so far away. GoodLuck, and i love them shrimp!!!!!!

P.S. -  If it is any cosolation, the U.S. players are probably seeing you warping also when they try to shoot you down from your 6 and under D400.  Most of them are probably muttering under thier breath agusing you of being a cord puller!!!  You may want to change your handle to something that signifies you are from down under and then they will know what is causing the warping, RooMan soundsgood!!!!   :) :) :)

richard, a 220 ping is usually not a cause for warpings. That sounds like a pretty good connect from Australia.

In this case, i would much more suspect the skins display on other planes (that comes up at 400) being the problem. Details are raised a lot at that range.

See if disabling other planes skins and lowering the texture size a bit helps.

I had a similar problem once, not as severe though. Every time i opened fire at d200 on a con, he would warp a bit. turned out it was my sound card driver. (not sure thats the case here though, since you didnt say anything about shooting before warp).
21 is only half the truth.
