Another great song by a master.

This is a clip I found on youtube. I'm currently on a youtube music/live performance kick. Mostly I have been looking up the Beatles so far.

This is just a great song and I never knew that it was performed after the early sixties.

Who is this guy trying to fool?

A live performance by John Lennon. IMO, just awesome. Do any young people here think this is good stuff?

What are you doing? Arguing with yourself?

Looks to me like there is more then one person bouncing around inside that head of yours LMAO

BTW pretty cool  and amusing interview with David Frost.

I like he asks Mcartney about when he might be able to retire and the responce
"in a couple of years they way things are going I suppose." LMAO

And near the End Frost. rather prophetically states that mcartneys retirement would probably be around 2010

I've always thought one way to judge a great tune is to listent to it and ask yourself.

"If this song were put out today. Having never been heard before. Would it still be a hit?"

I think that can be said about alot of Beatles tunes.

In that way they are for lack of a better term trans genre

While Im not Young. or I should say as young as alot of people here.

I stil think Imagine would be every bit the hit today as it was then

See now here is a classic example of two things.

Here is a song that not only would it have been as much a hit today as it was when it was first put out.
but it could also have been a hit over 100 years ago too.

Point 2

Much adeu is made of wild rifs and warp speed fingerpicking

Too much IMO

All great music needs to be great is to sound great when put together. It doesnt have to be ultra complex It just has to sound great when put together.

A good point of this was made in "Eddie and the Cruisers 2"

Anyway this isnt about that.
this is about as basic as it can get. Nothing super complex. No warp factor fingerpicking.
Just a great tune
and the song I am talking about is
Mull of Kintyre

could damn near be a national anthem

Good tune. I agree that basic, well written songs with a good melody are pretty much timeless.

Also, to me, a lot of great songs usually have a melody that can be broken down and conveyed by just whisteling or humming it. Those are the timeless ones.

Here is a clip of Paul McCartney on a recent tv show playing a song he came up with as he had an idea to have all the chords being played with just two fingers. It's just a simple tune, but I think it's pretty neat.

You don't need speed or even "proper" technique to make a great song, imo......just need to be creative.

two fingers

His version played in Glasgow back in 1990 is the best version EVER.   He had a Pipe band on stage that added a whole new dimension to it.

The CD titled "All My Trials" I believe is the only way to get this, either that or Limewire may have it.

This is it
