about the .40 SW round, I never had a problem of any kind running this ammo thru a P226 (  180 grain jacketed hp)  I think I've fired about 1500 rounds.  This is a sweet combo for me

any gun is better than no gun but...

I have a lot of guns tho and have no desire to own a .40 s&w for any reason.

well, I might agree with you Lazs if I had experience with as many different calibers and loads as you have...  maybe its a case of ignorance is bliss.

I can't  judge which  caliber out of all of them is the best ballistically for my purposes (social work), and i'm probably confusing the issue by associating caliber with a specific gun,  but so far, I've enjoyed using this caliber - in this handgun - more than any 9mm semi auto, more than any 38s, or 45s.

I do like the 357 mag  in revolver for social work and .44 in revolver for goofing around... but I need the semi auto, and I LOVE the P226.  Whats so bad about the .40 ballistically for my purposes?

Sigma are junk if you ask me. You would be better off buying a CZ our a glock in that price range.

Its not a true SIGMA its a S&W it has kinda a glock frame I dont know why they put sigma to the name of this wepon. SW40GVE Is the name of the wepon on the web site.

The pistol I baught

The Taurus was a heavy wepon to carry. I have carried it before on duty and It was dam heavy to me. Dont get me wroung I loved it . I was just ready for a change.

nothing wrong with the 40... better than a 9mm but... got no use for a 9 mm other than for historical reasons in WW guns for plinking.

It is just not a caliber that is worth much to me with all the others out there.

Course.. with all the ninja armed and vest wearing thugs breaking into homes... maybe the hot setup is the 5.7 fn round in armor piercing config.

I have carried 32 autos and would again.  They are small... they may be weak but they are small and have little recoil. the 40 is not fish or foul... it comes in a large gun and recoils like a large caliber but is not as powerfull as bigger rounds.  It suffers accuracy problems so is no fun to plink with.  too weak to hunt with.... to big to conceal..  takes an odd sized slug and has weak brass with small pistol primers so is no fun to reload.

still... any gun is better than no gun and if you want to lug around a 40 and feel confident with it then that is what you should have.
