Setting ingame refresh rate
« on: September 30, 2001, 10:22:00 AM »
How is it done?

I changed my game resolution to 1600x1200 just to test it, then returned to my normal res 1024x768 only to notice that the screen refresh rate had droped to 60hz instead of the normal 75 I had.

What determines the refresh rate of aces high?

Your monitor may not support 75hz at that resolution....

Some tweak utilities permit u to save refresh rates per each resolution.  I think though that Optimal will try set refresh as hi as possible for each res

Skurj I have Compaq P900 Trinitron screen which supports 120hz at 1024x768..

That's definately not the reason.

Mr RiplEy
Unless you have specifically set a refresh rate for each resolution you may use in your graphics setup in Win, then by changing the res in AH it will use the default optimal refresh for that res in AH.
To adjust it you have to first go to windows graphics setup and change windows to the resolution you wish to play at. Now set the refresh rate you wish to use at that resolution. After accepting this res thereby saving the info you can then switch your desktop back to your normal res.
When you use AH next it will automatically use the refresh rate that you previously saved at your chosen 1600 resolution.
You can preset refresh rates for all available resolutions doing this, win will remember them all.

cav, I found out where the problem was..

It's a bug in nvidia W2k drivers. Prob can be fixed with a small utility called nvreffix.exe (downloadable from fileplanet for free.)

Thanks for answering.
