Howdy from an Old (old old) Air Warrior Pilot
« on: December 01, 2006, 11:24:06 AM »
So I got hooked into a new version of an old game from the Gamestorm days, namely, Legends of Kesmai.  It got me thinking of the old days and Air Warrior.  I did a Wiki, and came across this place.

Before I dive headlong into battle, I wanna get caught up.  Other than the FAQ, where should I go and look for info so I don't blackout inside of 5 seconds after taking off in a B-24 or B-17?

Thanks!

And I will cyall in the sky soon :)

Chaces are you wouldn't black out, but would rather crash on your first 5 takeoff attempts.

Treat it as a more realistic, better physics, "Full Realism" version of AW and fly VERY carefully until you're familiar with the stall horn.

Heya's Savg - welcome to AH.
I played LoK and was pretty disappointed when it died.

One of the arenas is dedicated to training.  I've made extensive use of it, and found it to really help my game play.

Hello, Savg!

Probably the best thing is just not worrying about it and jumping in for the fun.  Aces High is great.  The hardest thing to get used to from the old AW days is actually the gunnery.  You'll quickly get back up to speed with air-combat maneuvering, but there are no hit bubbles here, and gunnery seems pretty realistic, so it's harder than in AW.  But, man, this is a great game.  And there are scenarios from time to time as well (which is what I love the most).

Welcome aboard!

By the way, you should stop by this topic and say "hello."

There are loads of old AW pilots (even from the GEnie days) here.
