First of all: I spot the black dot long before I see the icon. Vehicle moving over open ground with enemy CAP is supposed to die. It's the natural order of things.
Second of all: it's a game, and some allowances need to be made. In RL we don't have icons drifting over us. In RL we would have "better graphics" from Mark I eyeball, hours going over recognition cards, and would not expect this varied a plane set in our AO.
Third: We also don't have 3-man, squad, and platoon level patrols in those woods, or checkpoints, or country farm girls to report they see enemy activity out there. We have "enemy inbound", and flashing map icons.
Get your GV under cover. Get it into a barn. Park against a cliff. Use the terrain to your advantage. Barrel straight in from spawn to target over open ground against a base that still has ORD.... you die. Virtual Darwinism at work.
