from a one week amway trip up in orlando florida where all the soap bodhi bought from me earned me a nice bonus and a free trip to the achiever's invitational.

while there we stopped by the white 1 foundation's museum where a lot of neat stuff is occurring.  the museum purchased two complete jumo 213 engines and cowlings, probably from D-9s that were dug up at templehoff when they extended a taxiway.  the work on white 1 and black 3 progresses nicely.  be sure and check out the website.

So, those D-9s they dug up... Not going to restore them? Just ripped the engines out? Or are they beyond restoration?

No Dora's were unearthed in Berlin.  Just the Jumo powerplants.  Pictures of these engines can be found on the Black Crosses website.  We are a White 1 sponser and as Storch points out, any chance anyone gets, its worth the trip to their hangers.  They are restoring an 190F to static condition that was retrived in Norway, as well as re-fabricating the "White 1" Fw190F model attack plane.

Ah, thanks for the info.

I thought there was an entire secret stash under the airport in Berlin. Are they ever going to unearth it, or are they too reliant on the runways themselves that they can't rip them up?

The "Stash" as some have called it is really nothing more than what the Russians bullzozed into pits after the occupation in order to get the strips up, and in red Airforce operational condition.  There are no secret bunkers full of armed and fueled interceptors ready to take to the air in defence of the fatherland.  Hopeful imagination on the part of History/ Aviation/ LW buffs ran amuck after workers found partially intact bomb shelters full of the flotsam and jetsom of the defeat of Nazi Germany.

What better place to discard unwanted war material than in the pre existing shelters.  Not to downplay any finds, I personally find joy in any discoveries, large or small, but this really is a great example of...

Nice Storch. A worthy cause for certain.

I personally have not made it down to Fla. yet, but a squadie of mine (Zeagle2) lives nearby and does what he can to promote the project(s)  It was Zeagle2 who posted all the pics from the shop and got the real story about the recent artifacts coming out of Germany. Alot of which is for sale at White1 as the team is often forced to buy "lots" in order to get the few items they really need.  Warbird restoration is not cheap and any help from any sector I know is appreciated by those involved.

Welcome back btw.
