TrackIR 4.1.029 final version out
« on: December 01, 2006, 08:48:14 AM »
For you TIR users the 4.1.029 update is out of Beta and officially released. You can update from Naturalpoint's website.

It has some worthwhile improvements that have been mentioned on the BB's before, but it also seems to have a problem that wasn't resolved in the Alpha and Beta releases.

The website says the final release is identical to the .029Beta4 release which is what I've been using for about a week.  The problem I'm seeing is it tends to lose track when looking forward and down.  When it does this the view snaps directly down and you have to recenter in order to regain control.  This did not happen with the .028 software (or at least I never encountered it).

Anyone else here have this problem with either the Beta4 or final .029 release?  This issue has been brought up by numerous users of the Alpha3 and Beta4 releases and I'm surprised NP would essentially release Beta4 as the final product.  If you switch to .029 and experience problem make sure you post it on NP's BB so we can get it fixed.

 Hi mace.

I just got my TrackIR 4 Pro total and have done "orientation flights" in
MS FS9, MS FSX and Aces High.

I am having the "snaps to straight down" problem running the latest
version of the software ( 4.1.029 )
I re-programmed a couple of my Saitek X45 buttons to "Pause" and
"Re-Center" TrackIR.  That at least keeps me from having to thrash my
head about trying to get focus back :)

I did some tweaking of the "Y" axis and "pitch" axis for Aces High,
setting the "down" side of the curve to flat "0" after the first point
off center. This seems to minimize the loss of focus.

Sure hope the next version corrects this.

Just got my optitrack LED light thingy so I will try it out.

But,  I dont want to make the change until after TOC this sunday so I dont screw myself up.

I tried the new drivers, but found they would lose track of my reflectors to easy so I rolled back to the old drivers

Had severe problems with latest drivers too, so I did switch back to previous version.

Lusche..you running track IR 3?  I did find that if I uninstalled the drivers AND the programfiles>naturalpoint folder, and the reinstalled the new drivers it worked better, but was still showing "no data" around the edges of the view.

I too have the lockup in lookdown view problem sometimes.
I also noticed after the update, that i had to mess with all my axis settings again. For some strange reason i kept having twitches, and mini-lockups when looking up or trying to check 6, which caused me to get shot down quite alot yesterday.

I went offline and re-adjusted everything and it's seem sgood again so far.

Trying to break in the optipoint set up (trak clip pro)on my first attempt at T IR so had to use 29 (apparently)

Its not ambidextrous............ even with the  sensor set to one side its clear that turning to the right is not the mirror action of turning to the left.

I am getting views snapping to what seems to be AH default views as I pan round....I assume I have something set wrong in AH??

I don't have a problem looking down.......... but am suffering from some sort of motion sickness...........will persevere:rolleyes:

Lock ups occur when the sensor sees another major IR source.

Well, just don't get into situations where someone might get
on your six...then you won't have to look around so much :)

I'm axiously awaiting an update as I am suffering from the "look
down" lockup. Although I'm not flying AH alot these days I am
in my FSX cockpits daily and this glitch is quite annoying.

I too have noticed "jittering" and momentary lockups but haven't
thried to rectify them. Actually, I'm not sure where to start in that
respect. All that said, I am glad I finally got around to "adding another
gadget" to my flight sim world. TRIR4 is worth it.
