Hitech expressed in so many words in another thread this week that he believes it is natural and to be expected for old players to burn out, and that what he is focused on is creating new customers.  That sort of put a new light on things for me anyway.

Besides, the "good 'ol days" never really were as good as we think we remember.  Memories are kind.  That caveat aside... sure there are some things I miss, and some things I wish I never saw in the first place.  But they still have my CC #, 15 bucks is nothing, I spend more at lunch everyday.  (I hate to say it but often I wonder if the game is too cheap and if that encourages some of the troubles... never thought I'd say that in a m illion years lol)

I did not enjoy the game right before the changes.  3 years ago I did.  Something did change in those 3 years, and it wasn't just me.

I liked it before, when you could look forward to regular updates to keep the game fresh.
Now the focus seems to be on TOD and attracting new players.
When attention finally got paid back to AH, somebody noticed some problems and rushed to fix em.
I wish they'd taken their time.

I like it now, and I liked it before.  I like it a bit better now, as it takes less time to find areas of balanced fighting.

Before, it would sometimes take me a while to find an area that wasn't very lopsided one way or the other.  I would hunt around the map, pick a place, launch, then often see it become too lopsided soon thereafter, followed by more map examination to find a balanced area, and so on.

Now, it seems much quicker to find good, balanced action.

Also, in the case of having only a few capturable bases (if that stays in), it is easier to get together with folks attacking or defending a base.  Folks who don't care about bases one way or the other still can just go up and fly, and I can do that when I want, and I can join in some base-oriented action when I want -- I can get into either type of action more quickly than before.

Been flying on-line since AW DOS back in 1992. The changes really havent affected my flying time. Real life issue affect my flying time. The fact my eye sight is nothing like it was 14 years ago has a lot to do with how much I fly. The changes haven't had any great impact on our squad that I can see. Granted we are a small squad, but still we never have a problem getting into an arena for squad night. I still fail to see how a squad can't have enough communication where the new system kills the squad. I've been in big squads in the past and we always had squad e-mail or a BBS , so I just don't get the changes have killed our squad stuff. Not that I really care one way or another. HTC could reinstitute the old way tommorrow and I really wouldn't think it's that much different.
Changes or not it's still same old s**t . A bunch of computer tards trying to kill other computer tards. I also don't get all this  dramatic talk about epic battles of the past. Almost every night I have been logging off in boredom and frustration. Even with the "side balancing" I can't fly what I want 3/4 of the time due to ENY, half the time when I do manage to find more than 2 or 3 squaddies they are either stuck in que and unable to fly with us or we can't up our chosen ride for fighter sweeps and escorts, and any time I log into the EW or MW theres NO fight to speak of, no matter the numbers or time of day.

EW might as well be called the "Perk Farm arena", and MW should be the "GV arena". Thats all that ever goes on either one. Just went through a full tank of gas in a Jug with DT in the MW, and aside from 2 augering 38s, another who immediately went for the HO, and a mixed bag of Hurris and blue planes pouncing on singles trying to up, there was nothing at all worthwhile happening. Everyone else was either in GVs or spawn camping in JaBos at TT. Landed tanks dry and never fired a shot.

I've been trying to be patient and keep at it, hoping it will get better, even still referring the game to my frinds and coworkers who are into flight sims, but its really losing the fun factor for me.

I find myself spending more time making squad profiles and working on movies for the game than actually playing it, and thats just sad.

I actually got so bored that I reactivated my old WWIIOL account last week and have been trying that out again. No a2a fights to be found anytime I log on there either, so unfortunately I feel right at home.

Still having fun, although I've always figured that's on me to find it.

But I guess my expectations are low or something.

Had two knock down drag out fights tonite and that's all I need to keep coming back.  That chance to test my 'flying' against someone elses is what I enjoy.

Lots of good folks flying too and I enjoy them as well.

The Headhunters just kind of amble along, probably not expecting too much but having fun when we get to wing up and diving into the mob knowing a brand new plane awaits if we don't make it :)

Oh, and of course we continue to plot the overthrow of Aces High along with the other P38 pilots within the game.  If that's not fun, I don't know what is :noid

I confess I liked it before the changes.  You won't believe this but I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM FINDING A FIGHT unlike the vocal minorities view point.

1 arena with 150 to 600 people in it any time of the day... can't find a fight....yer right.  Should read ...I have to fly more than 45 seconds to fight :cry

Anyways,  changes .....I like new balancer idea over the forced passive imbalance multi arenas.  Can live with new field capture % because Rooks did (past tense :noid ) try and conquer the world.  Can live with the blue line capture idea because we didn't capture Paris before Normandy kinda thing.

No likey 2 x LW. No Sir not one bit.  Bish in blue and Rooks in Orange.  I say throw them all in the same pot again.  Hubble, bubble, toil an trouble  ibbles, hobbles out..... Late war arenas..."There can only be one"

i just posted on another thread so will try not to repeat:

1.  like side-balancing as it is being implemented (not too harsh and i like being able to log into an arena rather than stuck outside)

2.  like new capture percentage system!!! possibly brilliant!

my answer though is "before" because i miss the drama of the old MA. imho i feel the community has been watered down and because of the ease of jumping arenas, i personally dont care about losing/taking bases like before.  therefore i up and furball or gv and then log fairly quickly...

like other posters, i feel like im flying less and caring less...

would be great to have a large MA and sidebalancing and percentage capture in place...but thats just my christmas wish and i dont believe in santa anymore:(

Better now by far.

I think alot of the whining about squads can be solved by limiting the number of players per squad to ten and having HTC monitor and approve squad names to prevent the overt assembly of highly disruptive fighter air forces.

That would go a long way towards making the game a better experience.

I know this thread is just "about" a question, but for some  reason the discussion's been way more civil and thoughtful than in many other threads lately. So I'm going to bend the rules a little and ask a question of my own.

Treize, and the many others who share this kind of "high sider's frustration" --  Which seems less painful to you:

1)  having to wait 2-5 minutes to log on to your chosen side, or
2) Logging whenever and where ever you want, but with potential Plane set ENY limits?

I'm asking for honest opinions, NOT trying to be provocative or trying to prove anything.

Wisdom is realizing I will be an idiot in the future.
Common sense is trying to not be an idiot right now

lets just face facts this new deal has gotten old really fast. those of us that spoke out against these changes early on became nothing but flame bait, but in this thread i see very, very few who still like things the way we have it now. go figure
