Posting my packet loss from Ping Plotter
« on: December 10, 2006, 10:32:10 PM »
Here is the information I am getting from Ping Plotter.  I am losing packets from the following IP addresses.

4.69.132.194  (ae-4-4.ebr1.Washington1.Level3.net)
209.244.219.142 (att-level3-oc192.Washington1.Level3.net)
12.116.144.38 (no information available)
4.68.121.16 (ae13-51.car3.Washington1.Level3.net)
12.122.10.90 (tbr2-cl6.dlstx.ip.att.net)
64.156.66.53 (te-3-2.car1.Cleveland1.Level3.net)

My average round trip number is pretty steady at 60.

Can someone help me with this.  Planes are warping all over the place.

Its usually best to post the whole ping plot (in text) for Skuzzy to look at. He might even need to traceroute you back to pinpoint the problem.

All *I* can tell you here is that there have been a bunch of problems with a few ISPs in US lately.

Level3 has been having a lot of problems lately.  Not sure what is going on there, but routing changes have been bizarre lately, and general congestion has been pretty high.

Any suggestions on what I can do from this end or should I just wait it out?

Choose "save as text" from pingplotter. That will copy the trace to your windows clipboard and you can just paste in in your post with CTRL V.

It looks like your ISP is using Level3 for thier Tier 1 transport to/from the Internet.  Send the information to them and complain long and loud about it.

Thanks Skuzzy, I will contact my ISP and let them know I am not happy.  But here is a questions since I do not know a thing about what I will be complaining about.  Are they supposed to be doing something other than what they are doing?  I mean, are they ripping me off?  Based on the $40.00 per month that I pay to them for access am I only getting $10.00 worth of service because of the tier 3 route my system is taking?

I have posted the Ping Plotter information below just incase you want to take another look.

I appreciate all you do for all of us!!
