Scaler problem
« on: December 27, 2006, 06:01:45 PM »
I am unable to adjust my axis scaler sliders, dead bands, or damping.
I can bring up the map controller screen, I can select advanced. But any adjustments I make dont stay. The box to the right of the screen isnt blue. For that matter it is blank.
I have a saved stick scale, I re copied it to the settings folder, no change.
I renamed the existing folder and started the game, no change.
I uninstalled the game, and reinstalled with a fresh copy, still nothing.
I have an older version of AHI and that scaler works fine.
Any idea's, my stick is hosed.

Are you checking that box on a per axis basis?  In other words, first select the axis you want to scale, then enable scaling.  What you described with the blank feedback box sounds like how the advanced tab looks when its "no axis selected".

If that isn't the problem, have you made sure your .cfg and .jsm files are not "read only"?

When you open the "Advanced" panel, be sure to make sure the axis you want to work with is selected.  The "Advanced" panel shows the name of the axis you are currently working with at the top of the panel.

If the game cannot save the file, then there is a good chance you have some type of anti-(virus, spyware,...take your pick) running which is prohibiting the game from saving its configuration files.

Typically they get marked read-only.  Also note, if you are not playing the game as the user who installed the game, then Windows will also block the game from writting its configuration files.

I've tried everything mentioned above.

I've also tried the "attrib" feature in MS Dos Command prompt to remove the read only status of the AHII folders.

Can anyone help me find out how to save the Map Controllers config's? :(

Well pdudb kind of hijacked the thread... But, gentlemen thanks for the replies. I fixed it, and here is what I did.
1st, I have AH on a different partition, and for some reason files and folders and that partition were marked as read only. So I changed the attritbutes, and it started working.
Still had problem with it holding the scale, so I deleted the stick.cfg file, that was in the settings folder, and the sidewinderp2.jsm file. Now everything seems to work.
I went back to the settings folder, and did not see stick.cfg, so I wonder if that was causing a problem. That file was a saved scale I got from AKAK, from AH1. Perhaps a combination of things.

You're right. I did highjack the thread. My apologies, I thought my line of questioning was the same as the thread originator. :)

Thanks for the help though. I'll try deleting the files you mentioned.

I don't believe that the stick.cfg file is used anymore.  The stick settings are in *.jsm format.

All the Best...
