FR hit with Track IR4
« on: December 22, 2006, 04:26:39 AM »
Finally bought Track IR (4) with the clip on IR emmitters for my creative head set.

My frame rates have been reduced to a third of what they were previously.............. ie down from 30's (in combat) to less than 10.

I leave the track IR window open in the back ground  (with updates/news off)else it seems to dissapear.

I am battling motion sickness any way but when the world goes into stuttering slomo its hard going.....................

Please tell me I am doing something wrong that is easily corrected..........

My pre T IR dx diag is below

It sounds like your computer needs upgrades.  TrackIR does cause a significant frame rate hit on all machines; unfortunately, the solution is better hardware so that you do not notice the drop.  Try reducing your graphical settings, if possible.  I don't use antialiasing or anisotropic filtering, and that really helps.

Frame rate hit on all machines? Definitely not. TIR generally uses very little resources. For example, on my system (Athlon XP 3000) CPU usage is barely noticeable (never more than 2%). Needles to say, no FR drop. Even Tiltīs slower machine shouldnīt experience any problems.

All FR problems I have heard of were related to setup problems or some crazy driver conflicts rather than CPU overload. People with Old Athlons were fine, people with much better systems than mine had trouble.

Tilt, maybe you should take this to the naturalpoint forum or support.

I run trackIR4 pro with amd athlon64 3200 and gforce 7900GS, before 6600 (no GT). I did not notice any frame rate hit, so i guess if there was a hit it was minor.

Are you sure that you didnt change something else too? Be it resolution, file scanning av software or whatever?

I have the trackir software window sitting on desktop, but not the virtual head and settings screen. Do you have the virtual head & settings screen open on desktop, maybe causing trackir to send info there AND to AH?

Thinking a bit more, i have a few ideas that might help...

Well, maybe it does bad on AthlonXP, anyone knows?
Also maybe you run out of RAM with trackir on where you had just enough before?
Maybe it runs bad with old graphics drivers like the one which is best for your card?

sorry i cant be of more help, but i can assure you its NOT an trackIR general problem but has something to do with your setup.

I'm running an an Athlon (+3800), Geforce 5700 and I didn't notice any FR reduction. I do use FSAuto start when flying AH.

Tilt,
I had a problem similar to what you describe when I first got my TIR4.  I found that unplugging it, counting to ten, then plugging it back in fixed the problem.  It's worth a try.
