Author Topic: can't get online with 1.0 (Read 482 times)

Every thing appears to work fine offline with the update, but I can't get online.

I click the online button, and I get the password screen.

I click the OK button, and my system freezes, needing cntrl-alt-delete to restart.

My ping times are sub 200.

Any suggestions?

I presume you mean 1.06?

How long did you wait? Are you sure your connection is OK?

Failing that, I would download it again to make sure you have a good file, and reinstall.

yes Lephturn, I meant 1.06 (hangs head)

Anyway, I found it.....

Zone Alarm had reset the pass permissions to "ask"; and while it's dialogue box is open underneath the AH GUI, you're locked as AH is waiting for a response.......

And it only took me three uninstall/download/install cycles to find out!

(I'm getting better......)

Seeker drag ZoneAlarms levers down and after your session put levers up again and put those X's in program list in ZA.

I recently installed Zone Alarm. The permissions had been set for 1.06 already and everything was working fine. However, when I downloaded the 1.06 patch the permissions got all screwed up. I also get to the point where I click the online button with the password and it just freezes. I can't even ctrl-alt-delete out of it. I have to power off and totally reboot. I've gone in and MANUALLY reset the permissions to allow access but it still won't connect. To play, I have to totally shut down Zone Alarm. I'd prefer not doing that because it defeats the purpose of a firewall. Anyone got any suggestions???

All I can say is that I've got two green ticks set on AH in both "allow connect" colums, and additionaly RW is set to allow server in both local and internet.

Other than that Zone alarm is set to high security.

Looks to me like it's a Zone Alarm problem. You and I have the same sypmtoms.

Zone Alarm just might not support this kind of application like AH (though I find this unlikely). We might try to get some info from Zone Alarm to see if they understand the problem and they could suggest a fix.

Sorry I wasn't clearer, Spitlead. Once the permissions were correctly set (Zone alarm didn't recognise the update, and had reset it to "ask"); every thing has functioned perfectly.
