Thanks for that info - CV speed vs Torp speed really shows that you have to get in CLOSE.

Axis torps - 46mph@100 seconds is only a little over a 2K run, during which time the CV travels about 1.5K.

Allied torps - 39.33@240 seconds is a 4.2K run, during which time the CV travels about 3.75K.

It might be cool to have merchant re-supply groups with a few of the smaller destroyers as escorts similar to what the convoys do on land.  It would give the CV's, PT's etc. someting else to do.  

Might not even need the destroyers as even the merchant ships had minor gunnery.  My dad was first in the army then in the merchant marines as a gunner during WWII.  I still have one of the bullets at home complete but empty of gunpowder.  I can't remember the caliber off the top of my head.

CVs already out-run torpedos in this game. Why do CVs get to travel at break-neck, insane, unhistorical speeds, but torpedos don't?

CV's do not outrun torps,
It takes a while to catch up to them
but they do not outrun them
