Just curious here. Does that mean you agree with my sentiment, or is it just the foil to support the "human rights" group?
It means I agree with your sentiment.
I find it "hilarious" that people will scream for human rights for Saddam but completely turn a blind eye to his attacks on human rights. Also funny that these same folk will say "Stand up and take action!" (Against Saddam being hanged), but are totally against protecting or liberating people who were oppressed by him, and who, coincidentally, had much less control over their fate than he.
But it's just the same old thing with everything in life, isn't it? Protest over nickels and dimes and turn a blind eye to everything major.
Or, more localized... Let me draw the Prophet Muhammad rolling on ecstacy with a stick of dynamite in his hand, or Jesus Christ with a flock of sheep with human heads (gotta be equal fellas), and that's all just fine with people on campus. Not a single complaint. Go right ahead, freedom of speech!
But then the guy on the paper who runs our "Do's and Don'ts" section links diet pepsi, jenga, and lesbianism, and you'd think a war started on campus. Protests everywhere, calls for his resignation, etc.
I kindly reminded people that I'd been doing a whole lot worse, every week, against everybody I could think of in the comic, and no one complained - no one stood up for Muslims or Christians, or anyone else I may have offended. But you know, people never want to stand up for anyone or anything until it directly affects them.
Kind of off topic, but these past few months have been an interesting lesson in humanity.
