"I wish I could look at the plane-set sometimes when in flight"
I have no problem alt-tabbing out of Aces High, popping open a Mozilla tab, looking up the
stats, and alt-tabbing back into Aces High. My computer is an ancient 1.2ghz Duron with less than the recommended amount of memory. I do not usually do this in flight because it is risky and also because it reminds me of the "Leeroy Jenkins" video clip in which a bunch of squeaky-voiced World of Warcraft fans discuss how they are going to use their level six lawful good wand of smiting.
In theory I should be able to load up Dr Gonzo's aircraft comparison page, but that seems a little
too picky. But then again, if I know that my aircraft is
just slightly faster than plane X at 11.8k if both are using WEP* then I also know that, if I am shot down by plane X, it must be because the other player cheated. There is no other explanation.**
It might even be possible to record a second or two of film, alt-tab into the film viewer, play the film, and alt-tab back into Aces High, thus giving me all kinds of information on the opposition. A dedicated player would set up a second computer to record and replay from Aces High's film recorder with a short delay; it would be an interesting but very gamey hack that I have no intention of pursuing because I prefer to play for entertainment rather than to win.
* A real example, P51 vs Fw190D.
** Joke.
