New Video Card Now No AHII

I got a RadeonX1600Pro vid card today and a gig of extra RAM and now AHII will not launch.  Installed each new component one step at a time.  

Did the RAM first and checked everything out, AHII was working fine.  No problems.  

Got the vid card installed and the latest drivers from ATI's website and now AHII won't launch.  I get that cursed message that there is an error and "do you want to send it to Microsoft".  Like Bill Gates is gonna fly down here and help...

Anyway, does anyone know what is happening?  I am irritated because my wife is away for the night and tomorrow.  I need to fly and die b4 the wife is back and on my 6....

I tried going through the help menu and using the dxdiag but that same error to "send report" comes up when I run dxdiag.

Hopefully someone out there has some experience with this problem.  Any help would be appreciated.

Did I understand correctly.... youre getting an error message when trying to launch dxdiag?

If yes, then thats your problem... AH needs the DX for video. Try updating/reinstalling/reparing your DirectX version (usually its 9.c).



Another thing you can try: Make a backup of your Aces High II/Settings folder.... then go in there and remove the video8.cfg file. That resets all video settings to default.

Something is very wrong if you cannot run DXDIAG.  DirectX should not have been corrupted by the installation of a video card, unless you did not remove the old drivers for the previous video card before you installed the ATI card.
Also note, if the previous video card is an onboard chip, you must remove the drivers for it, and upon the next reboot, immediately go into the system BIOS ROM and disable the onboard video chip.  If you failed to do that, then you could have the problems you are describing.

I deleted the old driver and reloaded DirectX.  

Everything is working great now.
