I've only done that one time and it was back in AH1.  I saw an IL2 headed directly at me so I jumped into the gunner's position in my Panzer and loaded up a AP round and fired at the IL2 as it came straight at me.  The shot hit it dead smack in the nose and BOOM!  Dead Voss.

I've hit IL2's before with maingun rounds and had them toodle off...fairly small pool to judge from (the actual HITS) but them seem to survive an abnormally large % of them--abnormally meaning anything above zero:eek:

You should see a specialist about your obsession with me.  Battered Dweeb Syndrome can be treated with counseling, I suggest you seek some help.

I've seen il2s take a shot from a panzer straight into the nose with no visible effect as well.

Thats the only thing I can think of!

See post on collisions!  It's the same principle.  Those who's front end saw it hit and those that were shot at's front end did not see/register the hit.  I've had it a gazillion times as sometimes I shoot the bear with my tank gun and sometimes the bear shoots me with his pea shooter but I saw it hit him square in the nose with a 75mm tank round long before he started firing.

Il2s amaze me, they turn like spits, roll off the runway with "e" and are almost completely impervious to 30mm.

Hmmm.....

Now I have a question. In one of the very few times I get in a GV, I lined up on a flakstranded when we captured a base> He had been previously pinged and was immobilized, so it was a matter of getting the distance and pinging away.

I got hits on my 2nd or third shot, but the little feller wouldnt go down. I saw 4-5 flashes from my rounds, and figured that it was just a matter of time till he died, that I must have been hitting his already destroyed turret or something.

When he finally popped, I saw the weirdest thing ever -- he warped several hundred yards to the right and towards me, ending up on the base behind me. There was a nifty smoke trail from his blow turret and track, and then he was gone.

The other guy there, who go the kill, saw it too. But the weirdest thing was that I didnt even get an assist. We were the only ones there.

SO what happened?
