Using PT Rockets
« on: January 04, 2007, 03:38:32 PM »
Occasionally I up a PT boat just for fun.  One thing I can't seem to do well is fire the rockets to hit anything (like the broad side of a barn)

Is there a way to judge the angle you should use for any given distance?  Usually, it is to hit a town near the shore, but getting a field ack or hanger would be nice too.

Something I havn't tried, but when using PT rockets can you aim and fire them the same way as using the land mode keys on say, 8" cruiser guns?

One trick I use is to put my pointer center on a gunsight from a gun position, then switch to the rocket position, and use that pointer as a reference point.  I also all but stop my pt while firing.  It takes a few rounds to range the target, but once the right elevation is found, I fire for effect.

SNIP

Dredger,

If  you look closely at the barns in AH you'll notice that the broad sides are missing, that may be your problem.

I do about the same thing, except i go to the #7 position , face the rockets straight down, put the mouse pointer on the very tip of the boat, then elevate the rockets back up, the mouse goes right to the horizon level.
