I like the idea of using wrecked/combat damaged vehicles (crashed planes, abandoned artillery pieces, burning tanks etc) as realism immersion objects, but I would also like to see more effort put into ground detail all the way around.
As far as, players individual vehicles staying where they are as wrecks, that seems like #1 it would be more difficult to code in & #2 it would create massive piles of wrecks around spawn points, vehicle hangars & airfields when the vulch lamp is lit.
