poll with interrupts enabled
« on: January 09, 2007, 11:55:53 PM »
ok, so i'm flying around, and suddenly my j/s locks up.  totally freezes.  very annoying.

this has happened in the past, and even though I fixed it, I wasn't sure exactly what I did to do that.

here is my sneaky suspicion.

I think my j/s is conflicting w/ my modem.

I flew usin' my wireless connection to a T1 line, and it was fine.

When I fly using dial up, I get these lock ups.

So i'm thinkin', should I check the poll with interrupts enabled box for my j/s, OR am I better off just moving my modem to a diff. PCI slot and see if that fixes it.

O' Mighty Skuzzy, please enlighten me.

(MS Sidewinder Precision 2 j/s)

ok, changing the pci slot, and the poll w/ interrupts thingy didn't work.

hmmm...

I guess it could be my sound drivers (the gameport).

hmmm.....

More than likely it is a shred interrupt issue.  Sound cards do not share interrupts well.

If it is a Sound Blaster card, try reducing the hardware acceleration to 3/4 from Full.  But if it is a Sound Blaster card, you really need to be sure it is on its own physical interrupt.
