Weight is not Rosie's occupational problem. and has nothing to do with the soft i in likeable.  Her problem is her basic grating personality and a voice that makes alley cats run.

Comedic insult is a long-established tradition (e.g., Don Rickles), but it's a fine line that few can walk for a whole career.

Master comics can be world class brazen and still retain audience empathy and enthusiasm.  Unfortunately, some comedians lose their resilience as they age and wind up themselves being mocked.

I will give Rosie credit for one thing - she shut up O'Reilly right quick the first time I saw her on his show (shortly after 9/11).

I was actually kinda dissappointed.  I was expecting more of a battle of the loudmouths, but he just shut right up.

...

OTOH, the quote that best describes Rosie comes directly from one of her movies (Stakeout II or whatever it's called):

Rosie:   How long have you had your moustache?

Emilio Estevas:  13 years.  How long have you had your's?

I hate rosie so much it wouldn't bother me if he just walked up to her, unzipped & pissed all over her. I hope at the very least he destroys her, financially, emotionally & physically.

Edit: I couldn't care less what she weighs either, she's far from being a conservative family values person & certainly wouldn't fit the bill as a poster child. Ellen is irritating, but she doesn't give me the urge to run over her like rosie does. I like Roseanne better than rosie & Roseanne gets on my nerves pretty bad. If she was doing comedy shctick on a comedy show it would be different when she opens her gaping maw to babble, but the view is not a comedy show from what I've seen & likening her insults & attacks to comedy is out of touch with reality.

Wow powerful stuff.

Ok I now have an opinion. Rosie is a dick. Even if she doesn't have one (even though she wishes she did)

Two thumbs up for Tom Selleck.

Two thumbs up for Donald Trump.

I watched it live (ok, tivo'd by the wife). Selleck became peeved, Rosie backed down and apologized. Look at how long Selleck was allowed to talk. The interview took place soon after the Columbine shootings and Odonnel was riled up about that too, so she was a little too confrontational.

Sorry, but Selleck got pissed for trivial reasons.

Here is the part of my post that will be ignored...

Rosie is possibly the most generous and altruistic celebrity in America. She has given away and donated millions. She has sought and won college scholarships for deserving kids all over the country, she is the model for all these shows out now like House Makeover and Make a Wish and all those other tear jerkers. She did it first. Yes even before Oprah. It certainly seems that many of you are forming opinions of people based on information from those idiot shows that tell you what your opinion of people should be.

One more thing in her defense...  Also from that O'Reilly episode I mentioned earlier...  O'Reilly was asking her why she refused to participate in the telecast celebrity fundraiser for 9/11.  Her answer?

She asked if there was a cover charge to participate, and they told her "no."  She said she'd participate if they made her pay $1 million to do so.

Kind of strange high-road logic, but interesting nonetheless.

Still, I can't say I really like her.

Look at the transcript, she didnt back down, only to try and cover her steps but she hardly let Mr. Selleck get a word in edge wise and have an adult conversation with her about it.  The only thing she was intelligent enough to do was acknowledge they both had different opposing views.  In addition after Karl Malone appeared in a similar ad for the NRA like Mr. Selleck, Odonnell put out a press release stating he would not be invited on her show.  To add to all of the negative publicity she craves it is no wonder Kmart tanked her bellybutton as their spokesperson after she got them to amend their company policy to not sell firearms  which contributed to a drop in sales.

Tom Selleck could have completely monopolized that interview, but he forgot the sandwich at home.

Funny, I watched it (not tivo'd) & got a completely different view of it. I could care less what cause she is a champion of, it's HER I can't stand.....& I don't think much of Oprah either.
