Good question but...
Are you behind a real firewall, or are you using NAT or proxy? If you are using something like Win98 ICS or something else that does NAT, it won't function properly. The UDP packets will come from outside, and since UDP is connectionless, the NAT or proxy machine won't know what to do with them.
However... if we can learn the ports, some things like Proxy Server can map them to the client and get it working that way. I may need this info soon myself...
