Mr.Waffle. HELP!!
« on: January 08, 2007, 11:30:32 AM »
If your would refer to the "custom sounds for Ju87" post you will kow a bit more, but so far I have a new stuka dive siren. With the help of Yoshimbo i got the file to work in the game, it plays for a few seconds then restarts when u are in a dive rather than one continuous sound all the way down. Can you tell me how to get the file in a loop or whatever i need to do to get it to play correctly.

It can be pretty difficult to properly loop a wave file... I have the right tools for doing so, but since you're asking Waffle, I'll act as a backup if he doesn't do it for you.

Got one more problem that just popped up. Not sure if it si the fault of the file, but we followed yosh's directions and got the file to work in the game. The file go sent out to a sqaudmate and when he put it in he couldnt play AH. Everytime he tried to log in windows would have a error. He re-installed the game and still it didnt work so he then removed the file and was able to get the game to work. Is this just a freak thing or is the file bad? It has worked in one computer after Yosh's direction's.

Could be the codec you're using to record the sound. Or the quality you saved it under. Yet then again sounds aren't my stronghold.

Im still waiting for fruda or waffle to let me know where i can send it. Per Yoh's instructions it was made an 8 bit rather than a 16. Maybe thats the problem with my squaddies puter.

I'm not sure what you have going on. If it's labeled "wind" and is in a stuka (ju87,ju87d3?)folder in the sounds directory, it should work looped. Unfortunately, If it's a problem with the loop sounding odd, you'll have to fix that yourself in an audio proggy. Basically you just want to snip a few milliseconds of audio out and make sure it has a consistent pitch. That will make it have the same tone / pitch as you dive in it.

buzzing?
« Reply #9 on: January 12, 2007, 11:13:34 AM »
I have a high pitched buzzing sound I hear in the background when I dive and the siren sound starts looping? what is that? did i do something wrong?

settings:

Bit Rate:                 352kbps
Audio sample size: 16 bit
Channels:              1(mono)
Audio sample rate: 22kHz
Audio format:          PCM

EDIT: Other than that buzzing sound i got the perfect loop, the only other problem I would say though is that the sound is rather quite, which is al the more reason I need to get rid of that buzzing.

EDIT II: Tried increasing volume of file, not only does siren get loader but the buzzing does too to compensate. >:0

The buzzing is most likely due to some imbalances. Try some things with the equaliser in your audio editor, as that usually works for me.
