If so you may have issues with the old drivers...which will reload (at least they do on my compaq box). I have a "onboard ATI" and it caused all kinds of issues. The culprit was the driver that controlled the memory clock....run a drive cleaner {I recommend nasty file remover} and see what you have.....

His OB/VC is nVidia, no driver confilcts would appear by installing an independant nVidia VC.

Since the update, I don't warp as bad (totally unplayable) but I still warp enough for people to complain every time I play.  I love to spend $1000 on a new system that should tear this game up, only to not be able to enjoy it anymore.:(

Ranger, i just fixed my warping.  I set up a dual boot with Vista and XP pro 64 bit. Was originaly just Vista. I installed AH on XP and it runs beautifully.  That tells me its not the hardware but maybe some vista driver problem.

Warping while online is normally attributable to two things.  1)  The computer is running our of resources and swapping excessively.  2)  The Internet connection is flaky.
There are certainly other things that could cause it, but those two things are normally the predominant issues manifested as warping.

If you go into the game and pull up the Net Status chart, it will give a clue.  If the "Variance" is bouncing all over the place, then there is a good chance it is a resource issue.  If the Variance is not bouncing and is running flat in the center, then it is probably Internet related.  Specifically on the uplink to your computer.

A lot of things can effect the uplink to your computer.  Any firewall software, anti-virus software, file sharing software will all have an effect on the uplink to your computer.

The NVidia 9x.xx drivers are garbage.  You will suffer problems with them and there is nothing we can do about it.  Once installed, you have to use some type of driver cleaner to remove them.

The simplest way to diagnose something like this is to start from scratch.  A fresh OS installation, with no other software installed at all, using the games default installation configuration.  If the problem still exists, then it is most likely Internet related.  Run PinPlotter and see if the location of the problem can be found.

Skuzzy,
I did a fresh install of vista last week and installed AH with nothing else other than the sound/video/NIC drivers and I still had the problem. I didn't even install updates.  I did the same with XP Pro and it ran fine with no warping/lurching.

But USRanger is running XP, according to his DXDIAG.

Yes, with Vista, you can have all manner of warping as it is very easy to exhaust resources in Vista.  And the drivers, particularly the NVidia drivers, are pretty unstable.

I managed to get my Vista box to run the game pretty well.  Check the "Vista: Performance HInts and Tips" thread to see what I had to do though.

I followed the vista tips thread word for word with no improvement. What really stumped me is that my problem started all of a sudden even before the 2.10 patch was released.  I didn't make any hardware changes/driver updates.  Ranger's problem has been with him since the get-go.  I was trying to figure out what our machines have in common.

I coudlnt agree more.

Reminds me of the new mac commercial where the 2 guys are talking, The Fat one (PC Loaded with crapware from Dell most likely) and the streamlined one (MAC).

Any programs running in the background can cause adverse to "SEVERE" lag and warp issued when playing games.

As ROC stated run MSCONFIG and turn off all the crap programs running in the background when you start your computer and you'll most likely see a huge difference. If you need to know what to keep running and what not to then check out this site:

Pacs-Portal Startups List

Just go to start, then run, then type in msconfig, when msconfig opens click on the tab at top labeled "STARTUP" and it will give you a list of programs that auto start when you boot up your computer. Go down the list and just write a list of what is checked and then close the list without unchecking anything. Go to the site and type in each item and it will tell you what it is. Then go back to msconfig start unchecking the items you dont need at startup. The only things you need are the ones that are required such as anti virus, and firewall programs and others that the startups list will tell you are needed to let your computer function normally. REMEMBER... LEAVE THE Anti Virus and Firewall items checked.

I would also download and run spybot search and destroy and adaware se personal (both free). Just do a google search for them. Spyware can cause issues with warping and such in games as well as causing extremely slow performance.

Hope this helps!

CPU usage while the game is running is 50%.  I have about 28 processes running(I use FSAutostart to turn off the rest). I run Adaware daily.  This problem is only when I run AH.  I play Red Orchestra, Counterstrike, & IL-2 regularly also & have absolutely no troubles whatsoever.  Is there a way to check my net status from the clipboard, or do I need to CNTRL-ALT-DEL from desktop to see it?  I did that and net status was almost a flatline.  Network Utilization stays between 0-.5% while AH is running.  My normal CPU Usage is 0-2%, but during AH, it's 50%  Normal?
