Credit Card Number

Does AH try to transmit credit card info at each login or during a game session, OR while on the website Forum?

Just had my Security software ask if I wanted to allow AH to receive one of my credit card numbers.  I was mid-session with an game window open, but was actually reading Forum posts when it happened.

First time I've ever seen this.

P.S.  Not sure I'm real happy about this, if so.  What's the point of Login and Password, if not to verify my right to play.  Do you really need PII (Personally Identifiable Information) after initial signup?

Please explain.

As far as I know, from digging through files in Notepad, credit card information isn't stored locally. Could've been a lucky string of code, maybe? No idea.

There is nothing on the bulletin board that would ask for your credit card number.  The bulletin board is prevented from accessing the stored payment information.

The game never sends any CC information.  The only time the game asks for the information is when you subscribe.

It sounds like your computer has contracted some spyware and it is triggering on other information.

Testing.  Have sent two more messages to this forum, and have gotten same Notice, but they have not posted.  I think I know where it is coming from.

OK, cancelled previous forum session and now last post to Technical Support worked.

Here's what is going on.  Every time I try to enter the "interesting history Subaru Sakai" thread by 'boneyfreak' in the General Discussion forum I get the notice from my PC-cillin security software.
Notice is as follows:

xxxxxxxxxxxx

xxxxxxxxxxx

Looks like someone's avatar in that thread has something imbedded.
Also, after going into that thread and getting the notice, the problem persisted such that when I tried to post to this forum again, I got the notice and my message did not post.  Tried twice.  Had to re-boot system to clear it (I hope).OK, cancelled previous forum session and now last post to Technical Support worked.

FYI - the problem with posting was my stupidity in trying to show the security notice and not taking out the popup dialog code, so each time I tried to post to Technical support with the notice, I got the notice again and no post.

Anyway, the original problem is that something must be imbedded in an avatar that tries to send credit card info.  Is this a player's bad act?  i.e.  maybe boneyfreak?

OK, folks.  Schutt alerted me to the probable cause of all this and that is my Protection software, or actually, what I put into the software.  Seems that I used the minimum number of digits required (4) of a credit card number to trigger an alert, not realizing that within the thread's normal use of userid's I might get a match and trigger the alery.  This seems to be the case as I have had the same thing happen now at other websites.

Strange in that, I've had the Protection module active for about 3-4 weeks and haven't had a hit till last night and then again today.

Anyway, that seems like the probabl cause and that it is NOT a malware attack by anyone.

Sorry, if anyone got annoyed or unnecessarily concerned.  My motivation was only to protect others from what I thought might be a serious problem.
