US Spy Drone shotdown. War with Iran....soon?
« on: January 17, 2007, 01:56:37 PM »
If the US were to strike at Iranian facilities then such an act would be an act of war.  Would Iran declare war on the US, would the US declare war on Iran? Would pelosi call for our immediate surrender or would she wait for a public opinion poll?

If US attacks Iran... get ready for all-out Jihad (TM).

At the same time China is winning hearts and minds of Africans and Latin Americans.  Polls show that most Chinese think that China (mainland) will be on equal footing with the US 10-20 years from now.

I'm still a little confused about what we might win in a war with Iran.

Nah, we're just getting ready to support Israeli strikes.

China is more than a match for the U.S. already militarily & will be more powerful economically in 10-20 years almost certainly. The only thing that will help the U.S with China is if a disease ravages their population or if China & Russia get into a war & deplete each others resources (& we stayed the heck out of it)

Chinese submarines have given us a black eye in recent years & they continue to prove that we aren't paying close enough attention to what's going on around us. If we continue to insist that we will defend Taiwan with military force & continue to keep a small military we are asking for trouble from China in the near future ( say 25 years or less )

China is more of a concern to me than any other country or terror group out there.

I guess we better start building a defense for the mainland of America. Everyone start stocking up weapons, ammo, water, and the beer.

I truly don't think China would ever invade America, but if we do go to war, it well probably be in Taiwan and Japan, and South Korea as though those are close military bases in the region of China.

If Russia went to war with China, China would just kick Russias but in my opinion, that is on the ground war. The air war Russia would win, but on the ground, Russia still throws in poorly trained troops into conflict while the better ones stay back watching thousands of noobies come back with bandages all over them.

For a while I thought our next war would be with North Korea, but there to chicken to get there butt kicked right now. I really believe that there well be a war in Iran. I have also heard somewhere that the younger people in Iran actually like America more than their country, as in education, women rights, and more.

How is China's subs giving us a black eye?  IIRC, they only have a coastal defense capability with their subs and not open water, at least not yet.  Nor can they support a full scale amphibious operation that it would take to invade Taiwan.  while they have made great strides in recent years updating their navy, it's still basically a coastal navy with only a few ships that are open water capable.

Their blue water navy is up & running my man. They had a sub surface three miles (yes, that's 3 miles) from one of our aircraft carriers & not one of the ASW units had a clue it was there & this was just a few months ago; and that's not the first time they have done this in the past couple of years according to media reports. Three miles is well within torpedo range. Chinese modernization programs of the past have been more effective than anyone gave them credit for & for some reason they still don't take them seriously. We didn't have a clue they had launched nuclear powered submarines either & they had been at sea for years when our intelligence services figured it out.

They recently purchased three Soviet designed aircraft carriers which they say are for tourism purposes & they have no plan to operate them, but of those ships purchased, one was indeed turned into a hotel/casino type venture but the other one that had been delivered appeared to be undergoing a refit at a PLAN naval yard according to online sources I read last year. The third ship had not been delivered when I read the article but they were working on getting it ready to tow when the article was written. The author claims the PLAN have a native CV design & they purchased the old Soviet designs for reverse engineering of certain aspects that they are having difficulties with in their own design.

Are they going to field CV's in the style of the U.S.A? Probably not in the near future, but their submarine force is worldwide & capable of putting any ship in our surface fleet on the bottom. And the only place they have to concern themselves with at the moment is the area around Taiwan. Give the Chinese enough time & they are going to dominate us I'm afraid. It'd be nice if our media reported that the Chinese surfaced a submarine 100 miles from our CV with ASW forces parked above them from the get go, it'd make me feel better.

It'll never happen.  All Iranians would fight just because it's America regardless if they like their current goverenment.   Wouldn't be like Iraq where you get some buy in.

Besides, the US just has to poke Isreal and they will do it for the US.

Ya, ya, do it, do it.  Just do it.  Come on Isreal you can do it.

People wont wake up til a nuke is detonated on our own soil.

I group people who dont beleive there's a terrorist threat out there in the same category as those who dont beleive we landed on the moon.

We can't negotiate with these people.

The U.S. is not going to war against Iran.  Just won't happen.  Israel might take out Iran's nuclear capability the way it did Iraq's, but even that is iffy.

Not likely Iran will doing anything stupid as long as so much U.S. power is next door in Iraq.

In spite of vicissitudes, Russia and China know it's much more profitable to just trade with the U.S. than go to war with it directly or indirectly.

The only thing Iran might listen to is a joint position by the U.S., China, and Russia.  Which is not likely since Iran is too smart to upset Russia and China.

China and Taiwan eventually will reconcile similar to the Hong Kong absorption.  Then it will interesting to see if China stays put or gets aggressive in seeking the additional oil it needs.

Oil and water -- they don't mix, but they will be the sources of most conflict in the 21st century.

Iran is making a heck of an effort to destabilize the iraqi govt, and force the US to withdraw.  If Iran suceeds, it will be sitting on a huge pile of oil as well as controlling the govt that controls Iraqi oil.  As the worlds demand for oil is soon going to outpace its supply, the cost of oil is going to soar.  The plan is for Haliburton and friends to control that oil and not ayatollah and friends.  We will be held over a barrel one way or the other, but massive wealth is at stake for the combatants.
