FIRST CONNECTION issues, ever! Hep an elf=)
« on: January 17, 2007, 01:03:37 PM »
My ping when loggin on has been from 30ms-70ms for years and years. Now all arenas range from 2500-3990ms! This started after they shut down for an hour or so the other day. Been playin since 2nd beta and its NEVER been unplayable for me till now. Absolutely nothin has changed equipement-wise on my end. All anti-spy/virus programs show clean. Same # of processes runnin. Is there a ping-plotter-type program that would show where the bottleneck is? Is it a know issue? :furious .....:furious .....:furious    Just did pingplotter  to hitechcreations.com and ping is in the 40s
Is there a different IP that I should check?

http://www.pingplotter.com has a free version of thier utility.

Oh, and I ran a trace back to you and got a 35ms on the last hop.  Looks pretty good to me.  If the IP address you posted from is the same as the one you use to play with.

sorry, by " In the cockpit", I meant I am at the same computer IP from which I fly. Pingplotter is 36-67ms, but online arenas close to 4000! elfy

Scratching my head a bit here.  Here are some thoughts.

1)  The computer is swapping like crazy (i.e. running out memory).
2)  You are on a wireless connection.
3)  The computer decides it needs to run slower when Aces High II is loaded (heat, power....).

Don't mean to be gettin' in your Kool-aid here Skuzzy, but:

This actually happened to me in the days of AH I, and it turned out to be that I lost a stick of RAM.  It just went bad for some reason.  Since all I had running in the machine was a single 1G stick, it was allocating the hard drive, and causing very poor performance.  Just a thought.

I am all for anyone chiming in with thier thoughts.  The bottom line here is this computer is not acting like it should, for whatever reason.
