Mission Vox
« on: January 23, 2007, 05:21:57 PM »
Lets say you post a mission and you get a number of people who enroll and are waiting for takeoff.

You(mission leader) pull up your radio command box, and under radio 5, you select 'mission' in yellow. (not squad, not vox such and such, but 'mission')

Then when you press the T key to talk, is it true that all who have joined the mission hear you?  (even if they themselves have not switched their radio 5 to 'mission')

If they want to talk back, then they have to do the same..correct?

I am just a bit confused and not sure if I am doing it right.  Because when I do this, under the T column, there are a bunch of names that have nothing to do with the mission. (and they are not lined up in columns from top to bottom......you know how when everyone goes to vox 122 or whatever, there name shows up there too.  Doesn't seem their name shows up under mission though)

Im I making sense?

No - they have to tune to "mission" first to be able to hear transmissions on mission channel.

You have only 2 vox channels. One is "local"  (F12), everybody is always tuned to it. The second one (T) is selectable: "Squad", "Mission" or any valid vox channel # - you only hear it when you are tuned to.

That guys who have nothing to do with that channel may be part of a squad or any other group of players just using that very channel for their communications. Anybody can tune to a specific channel # without being in mission - if that mission uses a specific channel # and not the generic "mission" channel.

For his convenience, the mission builder sometimes just selects his squad channel to be mission channel too.

dogfarts..nuts..back to hearding cats.  Half the guys don't tune to mission vox, or any vox stipulated for that matter.  Then f-12 only works when they are on runway, and everyone is spread out.

I try to get everyone to hold for a moment so we all take off together...otherwise it become a congo line with late joiners in back.

i seem to remember that there is a bug with mission vox that allows the enemy to listen to your mission orders.

dont use vox5, select a number between 100-199 is best option.
