Need help with internet connection.
« on: January 21, 2007, 11:48:08 AM »
Somehow the access point on my belkin (router???) was deleted, and I am no longer to send a signal to my wireless computer upstairs(CPU # 2).  I have no problem using the internet on CPU # 1 which is connected directly through cable.    It's getting the signal sent to # 2.  Is there anyone that can help me through this?  Belkin is closed, and I really need a connection on comp # 2 by tonight if possible.

Thanks

I have a similar Linksys system, but I'm abysmally ignorant when it comes to even vaguely understanding how remote wireless connections work.

Except it does seem whenever I've had a problem it usually was solved mostly by various combinations of plugging and unplugging and rebooting and letting the automatic parts of the system find their connections.

First try unplugging the router and the slave for a minute or two and then reconnect them to see if they can work things out.  If not, maybe unplug them both and reboot first the upstairs computer, then the downstairs computer, then reconnect the wireless links.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but plugging and unplugging is worth a try.  You've probably already done this, but rereading your equipment setup instructions might help too.

Cav, can you get into the administration Web page on the router?  It should be at the same address as your PC's gateway.  From there you should be able to enable the access point.

BTW, did you try a reboot?  Pull the power from the router for 10 seconds and it should load the last saved configuration.
