FSO: Frame 1 Score - Tunisia or Bust
« on: February 04, 2007, 12:24:13 PM »
I received the plans for both sides and boths sides basically went on the offensive. The Axis left a light defense in place at most of their fields (7-10 squads) while the Allies plan instead to throw in quick strikes on the Axis fields and hopefully get back in place to defend their fields (hoping that the Axis would launch their attacks from non-frontline fields).

Now as how it played out; the air to air part of the fighting was close to a tie. Axis shot down more planes but the Allies beat up on the Axis attack aircraft. So it ended up being 470 pts to Allied versus 495 pts to Axis. Only 25 point difference.

Air to Air
Allied
19 = bf109F4 killed
05 =bf109G2 killed
07 = bf110C2 killed
15 = bf110G4 killed
09 = C.202 killed
09 = Ju87   10 killed
00 = Ju88   15 killed
01 = P40E killed

64 Axis planes shot down, 1 friendly plane shot down

470 points

Axis
01 = Bf109F4
09 = Boston III
03 = F4F-4
44 = Hurricane IIC
00= Hurricane IID
09 = P40-E
17 = Seafire Mk Iic

82 Allied planes shot down, 1 friend plane shot down.

495 points
So the ground attack part of the frame is what decided things.

Axis
Attacked Targets
A30 = 20
P33 = 90
C41 = 350
FD = 86

Defended Targets
P8 = 60
A21 = 300
A26 = 200
V37 = 20

Total = 1120
Allies
Defended Targets
A30 = 380
P33 = 10
C41 = 150
FD = 20

Attacked Targets
P8 = 40
A21 = 100
A26 = 200
V37 = 60

Total = 940
Axis Total = 1615
Allied Total = 1430

The numbers for frame 1 were :

Axis = 106
Allies = 93

The allies were down by 13 pilots. These additional pilots could have definitely made a difference for the frame. The allies had two squads who were no shows .. MAW (would have probably contributed 2 pilots) and Fightes Inc. (probably would have contributed 6 pilots).

Outside of these no shows the allies also had one squad that was under their min -2 number, C-Hawks fielded 13 (their min -2 number is 14).

But overall from the stats looks like a decently fought frame.

I apologize to the Allies on behalf of the C-HAWKS.

Our CO was very sick and had fallen asleep. Our XO had a system meltdown and was reinstalling everything on his machine when the frame finally started. Then we lost 2 members to the arena problems/delay.

Then I had to step in as flight lead once we created a new squad so that we could "invite" the members that were out of uniform....etc.

Finally, I was unable to get clarification of orders as my orders showed A34, I think it was, as our target and another squad CO said he believed it was 37 not 34....never did get a reply from the side CO......

All in all it was eventful for us but we did get in the air, hit first target, and get a few kills before being overwhelmed by the enemy.

Our apologies to all of you.
