White screen. Need help

Started acting up yesterday.  Now all I get when I click AH is a solid white screen.

Have uninstalled and reinstalled AH from a clean D/L.

Have uninstalled and reinstalled Omega latest drivers and Nvidia latest drivers.

Ummm.........

How many video cards do you have in there?  More than 1 is not good, causes confusion for Windows.  

Also, none of them should be using the new drivers.  Use the 61.77 version, thats the newest driver you should use on those old cards.

I have two cards in there and three monitors.  I have been running AH on this rig for over three years with no problems.

So 6177 is as high as I should go.

OK  Reinstalled the 6.1.77 drivers and it was no help.

Still get a blank white screen when I start AH.

Something has gotten corrupted in the system.  DirectX thinks you have 3 video cards.  It is apparent from the DXDIAG ouput, two instances of the onboard video chip are installed.

When you install drivers, have you been removing the previous ones first?

Also note, over time Windows will get stupid when using two video cards as active devices.  The operating system is not stable in this configuration.

I think its repeating the one video card entry because he's using 3 monitors.  Interesting setup, I've never seen one like that before.  

And yes, thats why I asked how many video cards were there, because one seemed to be a repeat.  Skuzzy is absolutely correct that Windows will eventually go nuts trying to keep track of a setup like that when you get into the complicated world of Direct X.  Its confuzed.  

Make sure you uninstall all your Nvidia graphics card drivers.  Use a driver cleaner program to make sure you got all the files.  Then install the 61.77 drivers for both of your video cards.  Then, as a final measure, reinstall Direct X so you are sure it is pointing to the right driver files in the right locations.  

See if that doesnt solve the problem for you.

Yup.  Still the same solid white page upon loading.

I just took my PCI card out and uninstalled and reinstalled my AGP card with only 1 monitor.  ?Then I uninstalled AH and reinstalled it from a fresh D/L.  Then I updated and reinstalled DX9 and I still have the same soolid white page when I run AH.

I am at a complete loss here.

How do I reset my AH video settings?

Chilli, that could also be a corrupt cache. Try deleteing the "Cache" folder first (upon relaunch, the game will create a new one, that will take a few minutes).

:aok  Thanks that did the trick video8 cfg file had been corrupted.  I deleted it and restarted AH and back to playing AH as normal.  Thanks for the information on the cache files also.  

Now, since I am now designating you as the official expert:cool:   I noticed that the brightness of my gunsight somehow does not take effect immediately as before.   I'm positive that you can shed some light on that problem for me:D

Boy, I am glad that I came here first.  I was about to do a bunch of things that would probably not yielded the results I got here.

Yet another example of how valuable we are to each other.
