Weird PC Problem
« on: February 03, 2007, 07:46:33 PM »
I just installed NIS and NSW 2007 on my Dell XPS Gen 3

I now have 2 very strange problems.

1. During boot up, when the Windows logo and the green dashed bar is going across the screen, right when the keyboard is initialized (the Num lock, Caps lock and Scroll lock lights all flash once) my computer speakers start echoing my microphone. It's like the thing is acting as a loud speaker.

2. I can no longer select my desktop wallpaper. The only thing I am able to do is change the color of the desktop with the color selector on the desktop tab in the Display Properties application. The list where you can select the desired wall paper is not active.

I have checked the volume control and sound settings, but I can't find anything to turn on or off the mic thing. Of course, according to NSW and Windows Defender, my PC is running normally with no viruses or spyware. Any suggestions?

You might want to try a system restore. Its quick, its easy. Look in Programs/Accessories/Tools. If it doesn't solve your problem it hurts nothing to try.

could your mic be unchecked (open) or something sound related causing a loop ????
