PS palettes
« on: February 04, 2007, 12:29:27 PM »
I have tried a few skins, and nothing has come of them. However talking ot Krusty on the Squad board he said i needed to create a custom palette for skins, and not use the default colours. So I was wondering if a Photoshop 5 user would please take the time and help me? Also can someone pass me a link to et a colour scheme useful for skins? This would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I'd have a better chance in running into a Dodo Bird in the middle of rush hour, walking down the I-5 with two hookers in tow before I see a useful post from glock89- Ack-Ack

Photoshop 6 here.  What I did was make my own palettes by country.  Per Rogerdee's link, click on the color charts.  Pick a country.  Now, Open Photoshop in the background.  Create a new document, say 300 by 300 with a white background.

Now you are ready to start making your palette.  Bring the website back up.  You will notice the color splotch as well as number values next to it.  I will talk you through using RGB values.  Look at the color you want, now look next to it under the heading RGB.  Once you see the numbers coralating to RGB, write them down.  Now, go back into Photoshop and select the square marquee.  Make a small box.  You will now have the "dancing ants."  While the ants are dancing left click one time in your primary color selection (the top one.)  This will bring up your Photoshop color palette.  Look to the right side of the color display and you will see a place where you can manually type in numbers.  Look for the R (as in the letter R in RGB.)  Type in the 1st number you wrote down (for example 163.)  Look at your second number and type it into the G section.  Finally, look at the 3rd number and type it in the B section, then click enter.  Photoshop will automatically put the applied RGB color in your primary color block.

Hit alt + backspace and it will fill the dancing ants with the appropriate color.  Do this for each color you want to put in your custom palette.  Once you are complete, you will have a .psd file with all colors and information you want in it.

I have attached a pic of a section of one I made for LW.

This is a very time consuming process, so put a couple of hours aside and you could make a palette for each country represented in AH.  Hope this helps :)

I don't actually make a custom palette, per se. I custom-pick my colors on a color-by-color basis, using samples from a couple of websites I've come to use as references. However, I never really liked playing around with the thing in Photoshop called "the palette" -- I think I was referring to palette as "colors, samples, swatches" rather than the actual palette object.
