Guess that all depends what your idea of talent is.
Personally I think he sucks. Always did.

I wonder who will QB for the Bears next year..... It sure as heck better not be Rexie.  Lovie Smith saw the warning signs all year and flat refused to do anything about it.  After an off season of being ridiculed in the media he better change his tune.

And yes Dago, Prince is one of the better musicians of our lifetime.  He performs with fire and passion which is something sorely lacking in modern music.  Yeah, he's weird, but he's talented.  Can play just about any instrument too, and not just noodling.  Flat out playing...  And if you want to compare him to Michael Jackson I think that's fine.  Before MJ got all cooky he was a heckuva singer.  The Jackson 5 stuff really showed a lot of feel in his vocals.

Well I don't think the Dr Pepper in front of me has enough kick for hallucinations, but you never know.

Musical opinions differ which is a good thing.  If everyone liked the same styles my job would be awfully boring.

To start with, Prince is not a great musician, but that is my opinion, and music appreciation is pretty much a subjective issue, and my opinion is all I care about.

And, I never said Michael Jackson can't sing, I said Prince can't sing.  Bloody well awful.   MIcheal Jackson is a Pavoratti compared to Prince.

BTW, an awful lot of high school band directors can play many instruments well, that doesn't qualify them as music stars, or as great musicians.

I think the problem is that our definitions of great don't match.  To me a great singer or musician is one that can express gut wrenching feel with an instrument/voice.  I don't care if notes or flubbed or if the playing/singing gets sloppy.  If the feel is there it's on in my opinion.  That's why I really like a lot of the old blues recordings.  Not technically the greatest players or singers, but can convey more emotion with one note than Steve Vai or Joe Satriani can with a thousand.

That's what I like about Prince.  The energy and feel of the song translates well to my ear.  I felt the performance tonight and that's all I'm looking for out of any music.
